Soak-off or Hard Gel?

Hard gels are filed off only. They have a tight molecular structure
and low molecular weight. Because of this tight structure, acetone
cannot penetrate to break down the gel. They are designed to do
extensions but also could be used as natural nail overlay. Usually they
word refer to medium to thick consistency and means that this gel is
designed to build structure. Hard gels are also fine for bitten or
damaged nails.

Soak-off gels could be removed by special liquid or
acetone. Soft gels have a higher molecular weight and elongated
molecular structure, creating space between cross-linking agents. The
space between allows for solvents to penetrate and break down the
product. Some nail techs like soaking gel off because there is no dust,
and the easy-to-remove system can be sold as an add-on service. Soft
gels are more flexible. They suit better for natural nail overlay as
they will grow and curve together with the natural nail plate. It is
possible to do extensions but only using tips.

So what gel is better?

It all depends on what you’re looking for and what is comfortable for you to work with.

If you're planning to remove your polish without the dust, go for soak-off gel. If you would like to have long nail extensions, pick a hard gel.
